Our client is a reputable international life insurance company.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for all financial performance reporting to the majority shareholders as well as the Executive Management Committee and Board of Directors
- Accountable for other financial performance reporting (e.g. financial statements and other regulatory updates) to various stakeholders such as inter-department stakeholders, regulators, internal and external auditors etc. This includes accountability for Company’s financial statements for auditors’ review.
- Responsible to review the actual results on the financial records which are prepared by the other teams.
- Analyze the Company’s current performances against budget and prior years, including analyzing actuarial information and relating it to the financial records to provide a holistic analysis of the company’s overall financial performance.
- Manages reporting timeline to ensure the financial reporting is submitted on time. This includes communicating the timeline effectively within the team and to other teams/departments.
- Reviews financial reports prepared by the team. Provide guidance to the team from time to time as well as guidance and direction to other department stakeholders based on the reported financial results.
- Responsible to interpret new accounting standards, and assessing their impact on the Company’s financial accounting and reporting (such as IFRS 17). Make recommendations for financial reporting process enhancement based on new standards and requirements.
- For IFRS 17 project: accountable for the changes to all accounting aspects. This includes providing recommendations for the changes in accounting entries and new charts of accounts and analysing and interpreting financial results and findings from the actuarial output. In addition, work closely with other departments, vendors, consultants and auditors in handling enquiries and provide solutions to accounting technical issues and gaps.
- Assist the project manager in managing the entire project, such as providing comments on the steering committee deck and minutes which are prepared by the consultant, and follow up.
- Key project progress status with various stakeholders, from time to time, upon instruction from the project manager.
- A key member of the annual budgeting process, and perform analytics on budget results. This includes consolidating budget results from various departments, seeking clarification on deviation, reviewing and challenging plans submitted by department heads and analyzing cash flow projections performed by the actuary department.
- Provide guidance to team members pertaining to financial reporting aspect from time to time.
- Other assignments/researches as requested by Team Lead/Financial Controller/Chief Financial Officer.
Requirements
- Charted Accounting e.g. ACCA, MIA, FCCA, CIMA
- Financial reporting
- Insurance experience e.g. life, general, asset management
- Able to multitask, able to handle a stressful situation
- well-versed with IFRS 17 standards
- Prior career background in audit firms will be an added advantage
- Good deadline handling
- Good attitude and attention to details
