Finance Assistant Manager

Job Responsibilities:

Accounts reconciliation

  • Analyze and reconcile balance sheet and profit & loss accounts to ensure account balances are accurately stated and transactions are recorded accurately.
  • Reconcile general ledger to sub-ledger accounts in the system and communicate with Operation department to identify discrepancies & exceptions, and further resolutions.
  • Investigate, identified, and resolve the discrepancies & reconciling items. This includes working with other departments and system vendors on follow-up actions and resolutions in a timely manner. Raise User Requirement (UR) for system and data fixes, follow up on resolutions including attending UR meetings.
  • Prepare and extract data for internal, and business unit use, and audit purposes.
  • Assist Unit Manager in statutory audit planning (audit schedules) and liaise with external/internal auditors.

System change request and fixes

  • Raise and review Policy Admin System (PAS) requirements and change request; and able to articulate comments, inputs and recommendations.
  • Review and manage PAS UR – system and data fixes for accounting implication and entries. Involve in user-acceptance testing (UAT) process for system and data fixes.
  • Work closely with Operation and Finance for inputs, recommendations, comment where appropriate.
  • Involve in user committee for new products, prepare Risk Dept’s product risk assessment (PRA) from Financial Reporting perspective, provide inputs to Product Approval Document, prepare test plan and test scripts, user-acceptance testing, mapping of accounts codes from PAS to GL system, etc.
  • Assist in assessing and implementing changes arising from accounting standards and regulatory requirements. This includes, say IFRS 17 – new data source system, new chart of accounts and account mapping.

Others

  • Assist in developing and updating policies & procedures and manuals.
  • Other assignments and instructions as requested by Unit Manager/Financial Controller/Chief Financial Officer.

Job Requirements:

  • Candidate must possess at least a Bachelor’s Degree, Post Graduate Diploma, Professional Degree, Finance/Accountancy or equivalent with professional accounting membership (ACCA, CPA/MIA).
  • Possess at least 4-5 years of relevant working experience in Life Insurance or Family Takaful accounting field.
  • Experience in accounts reconciliation or audit field in Life Insurance is an added advantage.
  • Possess knowledge in life insurance system is an advantage.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Powerpoint and Words.
  • Good analytical and interpersonal skills.
