About your New Employer:

Our client is one of the leading Life Insurance & Investment companies in Malaysia. As part of an international financial services group, the client offers a range of life insurance products in Malaysia including endowment plans, investment-linked plans, term life plans, and medical plans.

Your New Roles & Responsibilities:

This mid-level Cloud DBA position involves maintaining and optimizing the performance of the company’s multiple databases on both cloud and on-premise platforms, to ensure data security, availability and reliability of the database environment

• Develop and implement database policies, procedures, and standards with appropriate security measures such as access controls, authentication, and encryption
• Collaborate with the IT teams, IT developers, and business units to meet business needs
• Work closely with IT professionals and service providers to coordinate and resolve issues that span multiple systems
• Keep track of the latest security threats and vulnerabilities, and proactively implement measures to mitigate them
• Design, develop, and deploy hybrid cloud architecture
• Plan and implement administrative activities for Microsoft SQL, MYSQL, Oracle and other databases, including backup, restoration, and database performance tuning
• Provide database maintenance and support activities, such as installations, bug fixes, security fixes, DB cloning, shell scripting, auditing, indexing, and archival
• Take the lead in cloud initiatives and company projects
• Maintain a high level of data accuracy and integrity
• Ensure compliance with security policies and regulations
• Provide 24×7 support when required

Criteria to Meet:

• Must have at least a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Information Technology or any equivalent
• At least 3 – 5 years of working experience in managing a database, with sound knowledge of language’s syntax, structure, and features
• Technical knowledge: Cloud Computing and platforms such as Azure, AWS, Google Platform, Microsoft SQL, MYSQL, Oracle
• Good to have: Virtualization, Containers, Microservices knowledge
• Profound knowledge of scripting languages such as JavaScript, Python, C# etc. Experience in Java programming in database management will be an added advantage
• Strong SQL querying skills to write queries to extract data
• Performance Tuning, Database management, Security and Access Control Management and Troubleshooting experience are essentials
• Possess any IT professional certification such as ITIL. Certification in Microsoft Azure/SQL Server or AWS Certified Database will be an added advantage
• Experience in leading database/cloud projects or proven records of project management will be an added advantage
• Communicate effectively in both written & verbal English
• Knowledge of BNM’s RMiT is essential
